How Many Days is Too Many ?

May 8, 2016 by Laurie Deppa Leave a Comment

How many days is too many?  I am asking that from the perspective of a parent taking their 4-year old child to an indoor water park resort like Great Wolf or Kalahari.  As someone who just spent this past week at Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos, I recently experienced what I think was waterpark overload.

I had never stayed at a place like that (only an outdoor water park and the weather was great every day for outdoor activities) and I wasn’t sure how many days to stay.  I booked 4 nights because I found a really good weekday rate.  That particular chain does a nice job of having other activities – I will delve more into that on my next blog post.  I ended up meeting two different moms who said “you’re staying 4 nights?” – which I think really meant “are you out of your mind?”.

That particular chain does a nice job of having other activities – I will delve more into that on my next blog post.  Since we had several days I didn’t push on time.  We slept in, I went to the gym and I let her just lay in the cool bunk bed area and watch a movie.  It was really nice just going slowly.  By the end of the last day (you can stay in the waterpark all day but have to check out of the room) my daughter was really tired and had her fill of the waterpark.   She didn’t want to leave and expressed her desire to live at Great Wolf Lodge but after I managed to cajole her into the car, she fell fast asleep.

Was four nights too much?  It depends on who you ask.  Ellie will say never!
