In case you’ve been sleeping under a rock or just hate news because it’s always bad – here’s some good news – Marriott and Starwood are officially merged. The portfolio also includes Ritz Carlton Hotels. This is mostly good news – the variety of possible hotels and locations has increased exponentially. I’m a Starwood Gold Member and have no status with Marriott or Ritz. I really like Marriotts and have stayed in many but for years I got a family rate which doesn’t count toward status. If you have elite status with one it automatically transfers to the other – brilliant! Each Starwood point is equal to 3 Marriott points.
So if you have an account with either, now’s the time to merge the two accounts. I did it the other day and it only took minutes. If you have Starwood status log into your Starwood account. On the left it will say “Link to Marriott Rewards”. If you don’t have a Marriott account create one first at Marriott.com – it only takes a couple of minutes.
If you have Marriott Status, sign in to your Marriott account and do the same.
Now you will have over 5700 properties in 110 countries in three different hotel portfolios to choose from!
