There’s a nice article in Travel & Leisure about the appeal of staying in a quaint little European village. Yes cities can have much to offer but I believe they lack the personal charm that you get in staying in a small village or town. Some of my best experiences traveling have been in such places.
I did just very recently visit Chinchilla (de Monte Aragon), Spain. The place reminded me of a dreamy village in the movies. Everyone knew each other, the views were breathtaking every day and we walked the village exploring the amazing cave houses. We met the owner of the little grocery, our kids played together in the town square and we watched the most beautiful sunsets with the flickering lights of Albacete in the distance.
I definitely agree that there are so many great little hidden gems to visit, not just in Europe, but around the world. Do you have a favorite?
