Happy Valentine’s Day!
Being that day of year I thought I would give you my thoughts on romantic travel destinations. Smart Travel has an article on such destinations as well.
I have much experience with one of the romantic places mentioned – and that is New Hope, PA. I was raised in that area and every Christmas I plan on a trip to New Hope. It reminds me of Christmas with all the little cute mom-and-pop shops, Christmas decorations lighting up the town, a lovely stroll by the canals and the Delaware River. There are great little restaurants with really nice fireplaces and little nooks for a romantic meal. Not far down the canal is where George Washington did his famous crossing of the Delaware River (and so named Washington’s Crossing). It really is a lovely place.
I have stayed at the Lambertville Inn – and greatly enjoyed relaxing in the great room by the fireplace with a cup of tea. Lambertville is just a walk across the bridge spanning the river – 5 minute walk to New Hope. They have lots of antique shops if you like that sort of thing. There are some great B&B’s in the area as well. Also 10 minutes away is the great area of Peddler’s Village – an enclave of shops, restaurants and even wine tasting. It so amazing at Christmas time – lit up like crazy!
I highly recommend you put New Hope, PA on your list of weekend getaways – romantic or otherwise. As for the rest on the Smart Travel list, I have been to several and would agree – but I believe to make it a romantic weekend all you need is to be with the one you love.
Happy Valentine’s Day! 😍
